"WARNING: This short story, like the other, isn't funny. It's meant to be serious and follows the main plot line
and explains Wraith's burn. The regular strips follow after this one and ARE funny. As well, I'm just going to
say it because I can, viewer discretion is advised."
"QUADRUPLET FUN FACT!
- This short story took a ridiculous amount of time to complete, a little over half a year. This is because halfway
though I started doing something different with the resolution and speech bubbles. At that point, I'd already
drawn 1/3rd of it and the reason I don't really draft anything is because I like it new and fresh when I draw it.
It's more exciting that way and fun, so when I had to retrace all that I'd drawn, motivation just dropped.
I was also very busy, that didn't help.
- This particular one is based on the time before Isaac's mind. This is kind of a prologue to the actual strip itself.
Alexis is a new character just for this strip, and her hair is actually based off a character from a graphic novel
I never had time to start. I liked the style and didn't really want to waste it so I reused it.
- As you'll notice, the background for Rosalyn's mind is all fog. The Helmet, in every mind it's in, will
develop a sort of smog over the mind to dull it and blur it. In Isaac's case, it's as simple as dulling the clarity of it,
simplifying everything and blanking out the background into just a solid colour. For Rosalyn, it's this surrounding
wall of fog that hides everything. This is to try and ease the re-emphasis process. It helps the inmate forget
why they're there, to prevent the urge to repeat past felonies.
- Finally, near the end you'll notice that Wraith's legs have gone misty. When Wraith was set on fire and damaged,
Rosalyn's mind couldn't really see it as well, it was so damaged. So the shape of it became unclear and this was
literally seen as a mist. Wraith was damaged in such a way as to remain functional, but obtained a new ability.
This is also the programs way of balancing out the lack of the sword, it's a defense mechanism.
Hope you all enjoyed the short story, more to come eventually. Hopefully it won't take a year for the next one, but we'll see."
